Standard ENStandard Test Method for Determining the Force-Draw and Let-Down Curves for Archery Bows
Also Known As:
A standard test technique known as ASTM F1832-07 (R2017) lays out the steps for calculating the force needed to draw and let down an archery bow. The force-draw curve and the let-down curve of the bow will be identified during this test.
The energy held in the bow's limbs while it is drawn can be estimated using the force-draw curve. The area under the curve between brace height and full draw represents the stored energy when the force is measured at various draw lengths and plotted on a graph.
While the bow is being let down from full draw to brace height, the let-down curve is utilized to calculate the energy needed to constrain the bowstring. The energy that must be deducted from the stored energy in order to determine the static hysteresis of the bow system is represented by the area under this curve.
