Standard EN SampleStandard Practice for Design of Amusement Rides and Devices
Also Known As:
A standard procedure known as ASTM F2291-22 lays out requirements for the design of devices, amusement rides, and significant alterations. With the exception of certain of the groups named in Section 1.2, it is applicable to amusement rides and gadgets created after the publication's effective date. These exclusions include patron-directed amusement rides or devices, artificial climbing walls, air-supported buildings, dry slides, coin-operated rides, and water-immersion amusement attractions.
The standard also does not apply to amusement rides and devices that are covered by other ASTM standards, to parts of an amusement ride or device that are not significantly altered, or to improvements to electrical components that preserve or improve the original design and safety requirements. If pre-existing designs were created after the publication's effective date and the manufacturer can provide the relevant documents, they may qualify for an exemption.
The obligatory annex to the standard contains extra details to help users better understand and apply the requirements. Additionally, a non-required appendix that provides additional information but does not have the same number of mandatory design requirements is included.
