Standard EN SampleStandard Specification for Eye Protective Devices for Paintball Sports
Also Known As:
The ASTM F1776-19 standard addresses eye protection equipment created primarily for use in paintball activities. These devices are designed to prevent or eliminate injuries to the eye and its surrounding structures caused by paintball impact and penetration.
The standard specifies a number of requirements and tests that these eye protection devices must pass. Field of view, refractive tolerances, astigmatism, power imbalance, prism imbalance, vertical and horizontal imbalances, luminous transmittance, haze, optical quality, and physical lens faults are all evaluated.
Furthermore, the specification specifies that eye protection devices can provide varying levels of protection. The first level protects the eyes and their surrounding structures, while the second level protects the ears and face. In addition to the protection provided by the first two levels, the third level offers cranial coverage.
It is crucial to highlight that the use of eyeglasses or contact lenses in conjunction with eye protection devices is not restricted by this standard.
