Standard EN SampleTextile child care articles. Safety requirements and test methods for children's cot duvets. Duvet (excluding duvet covers)
Also Known As:
A draft European Standard called BS EN 16779-1:2018 outlines the safety standards for children's cot duvets, in particular those used in a child's sleeping environment. The standard is applicable to duvets made for children up to 36 months old and is meant to offer adequate warmth when a kid is sleeping in a cot or comparable product, such as a crib or cradle. It also includes crib quilts and coverlets, which are crib duvets with permanently attractive outside fabrics.
Removable duvet covers are not covered by the standard since their specifications are covered by a different document, PREN 16779-2, which is still under development. If a portion of the children's cot duvet is meant to serve a purpose other than those listed, such as one of play, it must also adhere to the safety standards described in the applicable standards.
The standard's Annex E includes a list of issues for additional research that can help pinpoint areas where the safety standards for children's cot duvets could be strengthened. This shows the dedication to maintaining and raising safety standards in this sector.
