Standard EN SampleTextile Child Care Articles: Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Children's Sleep Bags for Use in a Cot
Also Known As:
Children's sleep sacks intended for use in cots or other similar items must adhere to safety standards established by BS EN 16781:2018, which also specifies testing procedures. When a youngster is sleeping unattended, the goal of these sleep sacks is to offer enough warmth to do away with the need for additional bedding. This standard pertains to sleep sacks created for use by smaller children, often under the age of 24 months, who are unable to get out of the crib.
It is significant to highlight that sleep sacks intended for preterm children, children with low birth weights, or outdoor use are not covered by this standard. Additionally, foot muffs and other sleep bags designed for use in strollers or car seats are not covered by this standard.
An educational annex to the publication contains a list of subjects for more research that could result in changes to the regulations governing the safety of children's sleep bags. If a sleep bag has extra features, including play features, those particular components of the product must adhere to the safety criteria described in pertinent standards.
