Standard EN SampleFireplaces for Liquid Fuels - Decorative Appliances Producing a Flame Using Alcohol Based or Gelatinous Fuel - Use in Private Households
Also Known As:
A European standard called BS EN 16647:2015 is applicable to decorative appliances or fireplaces used in private homes. These devices generate a flame for ornamental purposes using gelatinous or alcohol-based fuel. The maximum power output of 4.5 kW is expressly addressed by the standard for free-standing, wall-mounted, and built-in appliances.
The standard applies to appliances that have a burner that is either a standalone device or a crucial part of the appliance itself and that are ready for use. Appliances with a separate gasoline tank are exempt from it. The guideline also does not apply to equipment used in boats, caravans, cars, or outdoor spaces, nor does it include equipment intended for heating or keeping food warm.
It's crucial to remember that even though this guideline largely pertains to private residences, it stresses that the criteria should still be rigorously adhered to, even in other places. Outside of private residences or in outdoor places, extra or different rules may be in effect. The power output of these appliances may be restricted by national legislation to less than 4.5 kW.
