BS ISO 24338:2022 PDF Download

Two methods (A and B) are provided by the BS ISO 24338:2022 standard for determining the abrasion resistance of laminate floor covering components. These techniques test the surface layer's resistance to abrasive wear-through.

In Method A, a test specimen is rotated while in contact with two loaded cylindrical wheels that are covered in a particular type of abrasive paper. The test measures the resistance to wear based on the number of revolutions necessary to create a specific level of abrasion, and rotation produces abrasion.

Using two loaded wheels and a specific abrasive, Method B abrades the test components' faces to measure their resistance to wear. Once more, the number of spins required to reach a specific level of abrasion is counted.

It's crucial to remember that these methods' precision has not yet been established. The standard will be updated to include a precision declaration once interlaboratory data is available.
