Standard EN SampleLaminate Floor Coverings - Determination of Abrasion Resistance
Also Known As:
The ISO 24338:2022 standard describes two methods, Method A and Method B, for figuring out how resistant laminate floor coverings are to abrasion. These techniques are used to evaluate how well laminate floor coverings' surface layers can withstand wear brought on by friction.
In technique A, a test object is rotated while coming into contact with two cylindrical wheels that are covered in a particular type of abrasive paper. Abrasive wear is caused by rotation, and wear resistance is assessed by counting the number of revolutions necessary to produce a specific level of abrasion.
Using two loaded wheels and a specific abrasive, Method B entails abrading the test pieces' faces. The same as in technique A, the number of rotations necessary to produce a particular level of abrasion is counted.
It is significant to highlight that the accuracy of these procedures is unknown at this time. The standard will be updated to include a precision declaration once interlaboratory data is available. This suggests that additional investigation and testing may be required to determine the precision and dependability of these techniques.
