Standard EN SampleDentistry - Physical Properties of Powered Toothbrushes
Also Known As:
The physical characteristics of powered toothbrushes are the subject of the standard known as BS EN ISO 20127:2020. Its primary goal is to guarantee these gadgets' safety while being used as intended. The specification is applicable to several powered toothbrushes, most of which have components including a motor, battery, mechanical or magnetic drive mechanism, and a rotating brush head with tufted filaments.
Powered toothbrushes can use a variety of brush head motions, frequencies, and speeds, including oscillating-rotating motions and side-by-side motions. Although the standard covers all powered toothbrush types, some standards might not be relevant to all of them. For instance, if the brush has a detachable head piece, the need for brush head plate retention is only applicable.
It is significant to note that this standard only applies to powered toothbrushes and does not cover manual or interdental brushes or other powered oral hygiene products.
