Standard EN SampleSurfaces for Sports Areas: Determination of Tensile Strength of Synthetic Yarns
Also Known As:
A standard called BS EN 13864:2004 offers instructions for calculating the tensile strength of synthetic yarns used in sports surfaces. The two approaches under this standard are Method A and Method B. Prior to being employed in the production of synthetic turf, Method A is used to test the tensile characteristics of synthetic yarns. The tensile characteristics of the pile yarns in the created synthetic turf are tested using Method B, on the other hand.
It is significant to highlight that because Methods A and B have differing levels of accuracy, the results acquired using either method cannot be directly compared. The consensus is that Method B is less accurate than Method A.
The quality and longevity of synthetic yarns used in sports surfaces must meet this criteria. The standard aids in evaluating these yarns' capacity to endure the stresses and strains experienced during sporting activities by determining their tensile strength.
