Standard EN SampleClimbing/Bouldering Walls for Use in the Water Area of Swimming Pools of Public Use: Safety and Operational Requirements
Also Known As:
The safety and operational criteria for climbing and bouldering walls located in the water area of public swimming pools are the subject of the standard known as BS EN 17164:2018. It should be studied in conjunction with EN 13451-1 because it is a continuation of the general safety requirements described in that document. The climbing and bouldering walls in categorized swimming pools as defined by EN 15288-1 are covered by this standard, while those in swimming pools intended for household use are not.
This standard only applies to climbing and bouldering walls found in swimming pool water areas; it does not apply to artificial climbing structures as defined by EN 12572 or inflatable climbing and bouldering walls as defined by EN ISO 25649-6. The design, working procedures, and operational requirements should be taken into account even though this standard provides safety and operating guidance for segregated regions of rivers, lakes, or the sea.
It's crucial to remember that, in circumstances where this standard and EN 13451-10 conflict, BS EN 17164:2018's provisions take precedence. This standard uses the words "climbing" and "bouldering" interchangeably.
