Climbing/Bouldering Walls for Use in the Water Area of Swimming Pools of Public Use - Safety and Operational Requirements
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 17164 standard outlines the operational and safety criteria for climbing and bouldering walls used in public swimming pools' water areas. These walls, which might be overhanging or vertical, are meant to be utilized in conjunction with the general safety criteria specified in EN 13451-1. Regulations for its use, operation, and maintenance are also outlined in the standard.
It is crucial to remember that this standard does not apply to home swimming pools and only applies to climbing and bouldering walls in categorized swimming pools as defined in EN 15288-1. Furthermore, even though the standard only partially applies to water regions like rivers, lakes, and the ocean, it is still advised to adhere to the pertinent design principles, operational guidelines, and working practices.
This standard does not apply to inflatable climbing or bouldering walls that comply with EN ISO 25649-6 or artificial climbing structures that comply with EN 12572. The criteria of DIN EN 17164 take precedence where they conflict with EN 13451-10.
