Automatic Electrical Controls - Particular Requirements for Automatic Electrical Pressure Sensing Controls Including Mechanical Requirements

SKU915255456 Published by British Standards Institution BSI Publication Date2016-03-31 Pages CountPages38

A standard known as BS EN 60730-2-6:2016 lays forth specific specifications for automatic electrical pressure sensing controls, including mechanical specifications. It covers pressure sensing controls employed in or connected to machinery that could make use of electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, or solar thermal energy. The standard also covers pressure-sensing controllers for consumer electronics found in farms, light industries, and retail establishments.

Except as expressly provided in the applicable equipment standard, pressure sensing controls used only in industrial process applications are not covered by this standard. The testing of pressure sensing controllers is covered, along with intrinsic safety, operating values, operating sequences linked to equipment protection, and operating values. It also applies to pressure sensing controls and systems with little complexity linked to safety.

The standard is applicable to automatic electrical controls that react to or regulate pressure or vacuum and are both mechanically and electrically operated. It covers pressure sensing controllers that are operated by either AC or DC and have a maximum rated voltage of 600 V DC or 690 V AC. The response value of an automatic action of a pressure sensing control is not taken into account by the standard if it depends on how the equipment is mounted. There are also specifications for manual controls that are mechanically, electrically, or both connected to pressure-sensing controls.

The standard also covers pressure sensing controls that use NTC or PTC thermistors as well as electronic devices. It includes specifications for the mechanical and electrical components that affect how they function. However, this standard does not apply to inline cord controls. Some of the standard's clauses pertaining to gas and/or oil regulations are being taken into consideration while the relevant ISO standards are being reviewed or updated.
