Guidelines for assessing the look of furniture surfaces in terms of surface flaws, color variations, and gloss variations are provided in the DIN EN 17214 standard. The evaluation of geometric dimensions or constructive properties, such as edge parallelism, is not covered by this standard. All types of furniture surfaces, with the exception of those made of textile or leather, must adhere to the standard. It is meant to be used for local evaluations as well as inspections of arriving and leaving items.
