The surface gloss of furniture surfaces can be evaluated using the method outlined in the DIN EN 13722 standard. The gloss is measured using three different reflectometer geometries (20°, 60°, and 85°). With the exception of leather and fabrics, this standard is applicable to the rigid surfaces of all completed items. Although it can also be done on test panels made of the same material and treated in the same manner as the final product, the test's objective is to assess the shine of finished furniture. The standard does not, however, cover the finishes on some metallic and pearlescent paints.
