Textiles and textile products - Part 2: Safety of children's clothing - Security of attachment of buttons - Test method
Also Known As:
The DIN EN 17394-2 standard specifies a test procedure for determining how securely buttons are attached to children's clothes. This standard is applicable to a variety of clothing items, such as textile belts, gloves, hats, scarves, and hosiery. It does not, however, apply to items sold with apparel, footwear, toys, or child care items. Other technical committees are responsible for these matters.
Sewn-on, toggle, and tack buttons are the only types of buttons covered by this standard. Other garment parts are evaluated under different standards, such as FprCEN/TS 17394-4 for parts other than buttons and metal mechanically applied fasteners and FprCEN/TS 17394-3 for metal mechanically applied press fasteners. FprCEN/TS 17394-1, which details the security of attachment for connected components to infants' clothes, contains performance recommendations.
