The functional and safety requirements for football goals are specified in the DIN EN 748 standard. The standard specifies four different types of goals in two different sizes that can be used for practice and competition in both indoor and outdoor sports facilities.
The standard expressly disallows some types of goals, such as those described in EN 16664 (lightweight goals) and EN 16579 (goals with diameters of 5.00 m x 2.00 m and 7.32 m x 2.44 m with a total weight between 10 kg and 42 kg). These exclusions imply that the standard concentrates on objectives that are contained within particular size and weight categories.
