Standard EN SampleAutomatic Electrical Controls - Part 2-12: Particular Requirements for Electrically Operated Door Locks
Also Known As:
A standard known as IEC 60730-2-12:2015 (E) lays forth specific specifications for electrically actuated door locks. These door locks are designed to be used with machinery like heating and cooling systems and other similar applications. The standard is applicable to door locks used in publicly accessible equipment, such as those found in businesses, offices, hospitals, farms, and industrial settings. Except as specified in the equipment standard, it does not apply to door locks used only in industrial process applications. Furthermore, door locks used for security access applications are not covered by the standard.
With respect to automatic electrical controls, this third edition of the standard aligns the wording with IEC 60730-1, Edition 5. This edition has changed the specifications for Class B and Class C control functions. Changes to the standard are also made regarding errors that occur during safety shut-down.
IEC 60730-2-12:2015(E) must be studied in connection with IEC 60730-1:2013, which specifies general standards for automatic electrical controls, in order to fully comprehend the requirements and guidelines it presents. Locks, door locks, and control systems are important terms related to this standard. The second version, released in 2005, has been superseded by this one.
