Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-16: Particular requirements for food waste disposers
Also Known As:
A standard known as IEC 60335-2-16:2002+A1:2008+A2:2011 explicitly addresses the security requirements for garbage disposals used in homes and other settings. These devices have a maximum rated voltage of 250 volts and are made to dispose of food waste.
It's vital to remember that this standard does not include portable garbage disposals, garbage disposals designed for incinerators, or equipment meant for use in a business or industrial setting. Additionally, it excludes appliances made to be used in places with unique circumstances, such as explosive or corrosive environments.
IEC 60335-1:2010, which outlines general safety criteria for electrical appliances, should be utilized in tandem with this standard.
There is no need to request additional amendments because the fifth edition from 2002 and its amendments 1 and 2 are all included in this consolidated version of the standard.
