Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-28: Particular requirements for sewing machines
Also Known As:
The IEC 60335-2-28:2002+AMD1:2008 A standard called CSV deals with the security standards for electric sewing machines used for domestic and similar uses. The standard covers sewing machines with rated voltages up to 480 V for other appliances and 250 V for single-phase. It covers sewing machines intended for light industry and retail use by laypeople.
It is significant to note that this standard expressly disallows the use of appliances designed solely for industrial applications and those intended for use in environments with unique requirements, such as those with corrosive or explosive atmospheres.
The fourth version from 2002 and its first amendment from 2008 make up the standard. It is no longer necessary to order the amendment separately thanks to this unified version.
