Industrial sewing machines and machines designed for use in environments with unique requirements, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, are exempt from this specification.

This standard's 2021 edition underwent a technical adjustment to comply with IEC 60335-1:2020. Changes are made, including the application of test probe 19 and the conversion of some remarks to normative text; clarification of the specifications for battery-operated devices; introduction of temperature limitations for externally exposed surfaces; and introduction of test probe 19.

Unless a certain edition specifically prohibits it, it is crucial to utilize this Part 2 standard in conjunction with the most recent edition of IEC 60335-1 and its revisions. The 2020 sixth edition of IEC 60335-1 served as the foundation for the standard's creation.
