Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-89: Particular Requirements for Commercial Refrigerating Appliances with an Incorporated or Remote Refrigerant Unit or Compressor
Also Known As:
An integrated or remote refrigerant unit or compressor is required for commercial refrigeration equipment under the safety standard IEC 60335-2-89:2010+A1:2012. The many types of refrigerating appliances covered by this standard include blast chillers and blast freezers, service counters and self-service counters, refrigerator display and storage cabinets, and refrigerator trolley cabinets.
This standard's second edition harmonizes the wording with IEC 60335-1 and its Amendments 1 and 2 to ensure compliance with other safety regulations. As transcritical refrigerant systems are increasingly used in commercial refrigeration, it also creates requirements for appliances employing them. To further guarantee the safety of the appliances, this edition now includes an improved flexing test.
Manufacturers and testing agencies could need some time to adjust to the new regulations and carry out the required tests. Because of this, it is advised that the content of this standard be implemented nationally between 12 and 36 months after its publication.
There is no need to order the amendment separately because this consolidated version includes both the second edition (2010) and its amendment 1 (2012). IEC 60335-1:2010, which addresses the general safety criteria for home and similar electrical appliances, should be read in combination with this document.
