Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-34: Particular Requirements for Motor-Compressors
Also Known As:
IEC 60335-2-34:2012 + AM1 + AM2: 2015–2016 The sealed motor-compressor safety standards for home and other electrical appliance use are covered in the CSV standard. The standard is applicable to motor compressors that have undergone independent testing in the most demanding scenarios imaginable for everyday use. For single-phase motor-compressors, the rated voltage should not be more than 250 V, while for other types of motor-compressors, it should be lower than 480 V.
The standard includes motor-compressors used in a range of equipment, including air conditioners, electric heat pumps, dehumidifiers, vending machines, refrigerators, food freezers, ice makers, air conditioners, commercial dispensing appliances, and freezers. It also covers factory-built assemblies for heat transfer applications. It should be noted that the requirements established by other pertinent appliance standards are not replaced by this standard. But if the type of motor-compressor being used complies with this standard, it could be unnecessary to do special testing on that appliance or assembly.
The consolidated version of this standard contains the fifth edition (2012) and amendments 1 and 2 (2015) and should be read in conjunction with IEC 60335-1:2010. The publication also includes corrections to Amendment 1 from June 2015 and Amendment 2 from June 2017.
