Standard EN SampleSafety of toys - Part 2: Flammability
Also Known As:
A standard called ISO 8124-2:2014 addresses the flammability of toys and their safety. It outlines the kinds of combustible elements that are prohibited from being used in toys. The standard also specifies limits for how flammable particular toys must be when exposed to a weak source of fire.
Both general standards that apply to all toys and particular requirements and test procedures for particular types of toys that pose a higher risk are included in the standard. Toys designed to be worn on the head, such as beards, wigs, masks, and headdresses made of hair or similar materials, are among the higher-risk toys. It also includes toys designed to be worn by kids as they play, as well as disguise outfits for toys. The guideline also addresses soft-filled toys and toys made for youngsters to enter.
