Standard EN SampleSafety of Toys: Flammability
Also Known As:
A European standard called BS EN 71-2:2011+A1:2014 focuses on how flammable toys are. It forbids using specific flammable materials in toys and establishes standards for how combustible particular toys must be when exposed to a tiny source of ignition. Although the results might not be indicative of the overall fire hazard of the toys or materials when exposed to other sources of ignition, the standard specifies test techniques for establishing the flammability of toys under certain circumstances.
This standard includes general specifications for all toys as well as particular specifications and testing procedures for particular toy categories that are thought to pose a high risk of flammability. Toys that are worn on the head (like wigs and masks), toys made to be worn by a kid during play (such as disguise costumes), toys that a child can physically enter, and soft-filled toys all fall under this category. It is significant to note that another standard, EN 62115, specifies additional standards for the flammability of electric toys.
