Also Known As:
Guidelines are provided by the ISO 7174-1:1988 standard for evaluating the stability of upright chairs and stools. Settees, other multi-seater furniture, as well as swiveling or rocking chairs, are not included in this specification. When used as upright chairs, it does include chairs with tilting, reclining, and adjustable back-angle mechanics. Regarding the stability of these chairs when fully reclined, Part 2 of ISO 7174 is concerned.
The appendix is a crucial component of ISO 7174-1 and is included in the standard. The standard also includes a table that, depending on the loaded seat heights of adult chairs, suggests minimal overturning forces. These regulations are designed to guarantee stability and user safety when using chairs and stools.
