Gas Appliances - General Requirements
Also Known As:
A standard known as AS/NZS 5263.0:2017 outlines the general specifications and test procedures for gas appliances. These appliances have an energy input maximum of 1000 MJ/h or a lower limit defined in the appliance-specific component of the AS/NZS 5263 standard, and they are designed for use in home, commercial, or light industrial environments. Appliances for fixed installation, portable, and mobile use, as well as those for caravans and boats, are all covered by the standard.
The standard in Australia applies to appliances that use all types of gas, including town gas, LP Gas, SNG, and TLP (tempered liquefied petroleum gas). It includes liquefied petroleum gas (NZLPG) and natural gas in New Zealand. Except where they are safety-related, the standard's thermal efficiency requirements are informative.
To offer unique requirements for each type of appliance, the appliance-specific components of the AS/NZS 5263 series add to, modify, or delete provisions from the overall standard. Appendices ZA, ZB, and ZC include descriptions of the test techniques.
It is significant to note that additional statutory or regulatory requirements might also be relevant to these products, and it is the manufacturer's, importer's, or distributor's obligation to ensure compliance.
