The device must adhere to Part 2 of IEC 60335 if it has electric heating sources. Central heating boilers, commercial catering equipment, kitchen appliances, laundry and cleaning appliances, room heaters, warm air heaters, and water heaters are a few examples of appliances covered by this standard.

This guideline also applies to appliances that aren't meant for everyday household use but could potentially endanger the public, like those used in stores, light industry, and farms. However, this guideline does not take into account people who may not be able to use the appliance safely without supervision or instruction due to specific physical, sensory, or mental capacities. The use of appliances in automobiles, ships, airplanes, or sites with unique conditions may also be subject to extra requirements laid down by appropriate authorities.

Appliances that are used only for industrial purposes or in environments with corrosive or explosive atmospheres are exempt from this specification.
