A European standard known as BS EN 16713-2:2016 lays out the specifications and testing procedures for circulation systems in residential swimming pools. It specifically applies to machinery used to circulate water, including that used to introduce and remove it. The specification is intended to be read in conjunction with EN 16582-1, which provides a definition of swimming pools.
It should be noted, however, that some types of pools, including those designed for public use (covered by EN 15288-1), residential or public spas, paddling pools as per EN 71-8, pre-filtration systems, and natural and nature-inspired pools, are not covered by this standard.
Because they provide detailed instructions and specifications in those areas, EN 16713-1 for filtration systems and EN 16713-3 for treatment systems should be consulted.
