Domestic swimming pools - Water systems - Part 3: Water treatment - Requirements
Also Known As:
The equipment and methods for pool water treatment in household swimming pools are specified in the DIN EN 16713-3 standard, together with the necessary testing procedures. It is significant to note that this standard, which must be read in conjunction with EN 16582-1, only applies to home swimming pools as described by that standard. Domestic spas, natural and nature-inspired pools, and classed pools as defined by EN 15288 are not covered by it.
The major goal of this standard is to provide a consistently high level of pool water hygiene, thereby reducing the possibility of germs endangering human health. Additionally, by reducing the negative effects of disinfectants, bathers' health is taken into account. In order to accomplish these goals, this standard establishes requirements for water quality and water treatment.
As this standard focuses solely on water treatment standards, prEN 16713-1 and prEN 16713-2 should be consulted for details regarding filtration systems.
