Household and Similar Electrical Appliances Safety - Part 2-43: Particular Requirements for Clothes Dryers and Towel Rails
Also Known As:
The IEC Standard 60335-2-43 is adopted with Canadian modifications in the CAN/CSA-E60335-2-43:13 (R2018) standard. This standard replaces the prior version and is meant to be used in connection with CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60335-1-11, which outlines the fundamental standards for the security of home appliances and related devices.
The scope of this standard includes the safety criteria for electric towel rails intended for domestic use and comparable applications with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 volts and electric clothes dryers for drying textiles on racks positioned in warm airflow. The standard also covers devices used in businesses, light industry, and farms that are not designed for general household use but could nonetheless endanger the public.
The standard may not take into account people with physical, sensory, or mental disabilities that prevent them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction or children playing with it, even though it addresses common hazards that people may encounter in and around the home. Appliances intended for use in cars, ships, airplanes, or other unique circumstances (like the presence of an explosive or corrosive atmosphere) may require additional standards.
It is significant to highlight that this guideline does not apply to appliances such as tumble dryers, those created solely for industrial usage, or those created for use in certain environments.
