Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-16: Particular Requirements for Food Waste Disposers
Also Known As: CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-16:16
A standard called CSA C22.2 No. 60335-2-16:16 (R2021) focuses on the safety criteria for domestic electrical appliances that are specifically made for disposing of food waste. With Canadian modifications, this standard is an adaptation of IEC Standard 60335-2-16.
This standard's scope includes domestically oriented electric food waste disposers with rated voltages up to 250 volts. It also includes equipment used in non-household situations that could endanger the public, such as stores, light industry, and farms. However, the guideline does not account for some user groups, such as unattended children or those with physical, sensory, or mental impairments.
It is significant to note that this standard does not apply to appliances used in situations with unique characteristics, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, portable food waste disposers, incinerator-type disposers, appliances for industrial or commercial purposes, or appliances used in areas with specific conditions.
