Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Electric Kitchen Machines
Also Known As:
For electric kitchen appliances and their accessories, safety criteria are outlined in the CAN/CSA-E335-2-14-94 (R1999) standard. Numerous kitchen appliances, such as mixers, blenders, juicers, slicers, graters, and more, are covered by this standard. It also includes multifunctional kitchen appliances with particular add-ons, such as mixers with coffee grinder attachments.
The guideline clearly indicates that it does not apply to food processors, slicing devices with inclined blades, kitchen appliances with heating elements, or devices made solely for industrial or commercial use. Additionally, it does not apply to equipment designed for use in corrosive or explosive situations, coffee grinders (which are covered in a separate Part 2), food waste disposers (also covered separately), or mills and grinders.
The standard states that additional standards might be needed for kitchen appliances used in nurseries or other places where infants, children, or elderly people are present unattended. Similar to how kitchen appliances used in cars, ships, or airplanes would need extra supplies. Special restrictions could be required for machines used in tropical regions.
The fact that this standard is not exhaustive and that national health authorities and labor protection authorities in various nations may have additional standards should be noted.
