Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Commercial Electric Kitchen Machines
Also Known As:
For electrically controlled commercial kitchen appliances that are not meant for home use, the CAN/CSA-E335-2-64-94 standard specifies safety requirements. The following types of kitchen appliances are covered by this standard: mixers, blenders, kneaders, beaters, shredders, graters, mincers, slicers, peelers, tin openers, coffee grinders, food washing machines, portioning machines, and food processors.
The requirement also applies to appliances that are delivered as separate pieces (sub-assemblies), so they may be transported and assembled on-site with ease. It consists of the electrical component of equipment that uses other sources of power.
The standard does not, however, apply to appliances designed for use in environments with unique conditions, such as corrosive or explosive atmospheres, continuous-process kitchen machines for mass food preparation, independent conveying equipment like food distribution belts, or appliances used in kitchens for industrial purposes.
Appliances intended for use in cars, aboard ships or aircraft, or in tropical regions may need to meet additional standards. It is crucial to keep in mind that many nations have unique requirements for health care, access to clean water, and labor protection that should also be taken into account.
