Safety of toys - Part 8: Activity toys for domestic use
Also Known As:
The European standard DIN EN 71-8 focuses on the safety criteria and testing procedures for activity toys intended for household use. These playthings are designed for youngsters under the age of 14 and frequently have a crossbeam attached to them or incorporate one into them. The standard also covers swing components that can be combined with the activity toy, in addition to independently supplied accessories for these toys. Additionally, it has activity toy assembly packages, which are made up of the parts needed to assemble the toys in accordance with a predetermined building guide.
It's crucial to remember that the norm does include some exceptions. The EN 1176 series, which deals with playground equipment meant for public use, is not covered by this. Additionally excluded are bow-mounted rocking activity toys like rocking horses because EN 71-1 covers their special requirements. Additionally, toy pools without play features and pools with a maximum water depth beyond 400 mm are not covered by this standard. A different standard, EN 7114, also covers trampolines for household usage.
