Household and similar electrical appliances - Safety - Part 2-118: Particular requirements for professional ice-cream makers
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 60335-2-118:2020 focuses on the security requirements for commercial ice cream makers and comparable products. It applies to both professional and domestic appliances used in offices, retail establishments, workshops, and farms. The standard applies to appliances with a rated voltage of 480 V for other appliances and up to 250 V for single-phase appliances.
The equipment covered by this standard includes refrigerant condensing units, which are usually built into the appliances but may occasionally be remote. The standard also specifies standards for appliances used to store and whip cream mix, as well as mixers used to prepare ice cream and similar pastries.
The use of appliances in automobiles, ships, aircraft, or in particular nations where national health authorities, labor protection authorities, water supply authorities, or similar entities enforce specific laws may necessitate additional standards.
Appliances with a refrigerating system that uses flammable refrigerants, household ice cream appliances (which are covered by IEC 60335-2-24), appliances designed only for industrial use, and appliances used in environments with unique conditions like the presence of corrosive or explosive atmospheres are not covered by the standard.
