Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-41: Particular Requirements for Pumps
Also Known As:
A standard known as IEC 60335-2-41:2012 focuses on the safety standards for electric pumps used in domestic settings and other similar applications. The pumps specified by this standard are made to work with liquids that have a maximum temperature of 90 °C. Single-phase appliances should not have rated voltages greater than 250 V, while other appliances should not have ratings greater than 480 V.
This standard is applicable to many different kinds of pumps, including table fountain pumps, vertical wet pit pumps, shower boost pumps, sludge pumps, aquarium pumps, garden pond pumps, and sludge pumps. To guarantee the safety of these pumps, producers must abide by the standard's detailed requirements and instructions.
The third edition from 2002 has been replaced by the 2012 edition of this standard, which is a technical revision. The version contains updates like the insertion of an IEC 60364-7-702 normative reference and a revised title for IEC 60364-7-701. Additionally, it introduces requirements for deep well pumps, defines the typical operation of pumps, and alters some parts pertaining to the intake and exit tubes of the pump.
The standard highlights the necessity for a transitional phase so that testing organizations and equipment manufacturers can adapt to the new specifications and carry out the necessary tests. It advises national committees to adopt this publication's ideas for execution within 12 to 36 months of the publication date.
