Floating Leisure Articles for Use on and In the Water - Part 5: Additional Specific Safety Requirements and Test Methods for Class C Devices
Also Known As:
A specific safety standard for Class C floating recreational items that are used on and in water is ISO 25649-5:2017. Whether a product achieves buoyancy through inflation or naturally buoyant materials, it must adhere to this criteria in order to be designated as Class C under ISO 25649-1. In addition to ISO 25649-1 and ISO 25649-2, ISO 25649-5:2017 should be used.
For Class C devices only, the standard specifies additional safety criteria and test procedures. A few products that fit under Class C are towable tubes with an interior holding area and closed cockpit, towable rafts, towable boards, and towable bananas.
According to ISO 25649-5:2017, Class C devices are often utilized in places far from bathing facilities and other popular water surfaces, such as open fields and designated racetracks. These gadgets can be used in places with weak currents and minimal or no waves.
