Outdoor Furniture: Seating and Tables for Camping, Domestic, and Contract Use - General Safety Requirements

The general safety criteria for outdoor furniture used for household, commercial, and camping reasons are outlined in BS EN 581-1:2017. This standard applies to adult tables and chairs, regardless of their construction, design, or manufacturing methods.
It should be emphasized nonetheless that this regulation does not apply to facilities for spectator seating. The standards for the longevity of upholstery materials, castors, reclining and tilting systems, and seat height adjustment mechanisms are also not included.
Other standards, especially EN 581-2 for sitting and EN 581-3 for tables, address the mechanical safety requirements for both seating and tables. Specific recommendations and requirements are provided by these standards to guarantee the furniture's mechanical safety.
