Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Coffee Mills and Coffee Grinders
Also Known As:
Coffee grinders and mills with hopper capacities of up to 500 grams of coffee beans for home use are covered by the CAN/CSA-E335-2-33-94 (R2004) standard. IEC Publication 335-2-14: Particular Requirements for Electric Kitchen Machines, which is also required, applies to the coffee grinding and milling accessories used with multipurpose kitchen appliances.
This standard does not replace an IEC standard that is particular to coffee mills and coffee grinders in commercial catering applications, even though it offers guidance on appropriate standards and testing for those appliances. The standard may call for additional criteria in situations where there are young children, the elderly, or infirm people because it does not take unique hazards into consideration. There may be additional restrictions for appliances meant for usage in cars, ships, aircraft, or tropical locations.
It is significant to note that national health authorities in various nations may impose more specifications on the appliances covered by this standard.
