Standard EN SampleSustainability Standard for Household Refrigeration Appliances
Also Known As:
The CSA SPE-7001-12 standard is currently a non-consensus document but is expected to be released as one soon. The standard applies to residential two-phase refrigerant compression-type refrigeration equipment that meets the minimum energy performance standards established by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the US Department of the Environment (DoE). The standard specifically covers compact refrigerators and compact freezers, chest and upright freezers, and refrigerator-freezers.
It is significant to note that the Task Force in charge of the standard wants to broaden its application to other household refrigeration items, such as wine coolers and chilled beverage dispensers, in later revisions. Absorption-type refrigerators and commercial refrigeration equipment are not covered by the standard. The standard also doesn't specify how to utilize a mark or seal of conformity assessment or how to conduct a conformity assessment.
