Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Electrical Appliances for Use with Aquariums and Garden Ponds
Also Known As:
The safety standards for electrical equipment created especially for use with aquariums and garden ponds are outlined in the CAN/CSA-E335-2-55-94 (R1999) standard.
The standard is applicable to a variety of appliances used in various environments, including aerators, sludge-suction machines, heaters, and automatic food dispensers. Electric pumps covered by IEC Publication 335-2-41, luminaires for aquariums or garden ponds covered by IEC Publication 598-2-18, and appliances intended only for professional usage with a rated input above 100 W are excluded from its coverage.
The standard does not address risks associated with nurseries or places where young children, the elderly, or infirm people are present unattended. In these circumstances, additional restrictions can be required. Similar to this, additional specifications might be required for appliances used in automobiles, ships, or aircraft, as well as in tropical regions.
It is crucial to remember that national health authorities and organizations in charge of labor protection in different nations may prescribe additional standards in addition to those included in this standard.
