Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances - Part 2: Particular Requirements for Range Hoods
Also Known As:
The requirements for range hoods that integrate electrical equipment, such as fans, lighting, and controls, are laid forth in the CAN/CSA-E335-2-31-94 (R1999) standard. These range hoods are designed to be installed above stovetops, ovens, and other similar home cooking equipment.
Range hoods used in industrial settings or in places where there may be an explosive or corrosive atmosphere are not covered by the standard. Additionally, it does not take into consideration the unique dangers that may exist in nurseries or other locations where small children or old and infirm people are present without supervision. In these situations, additional standards may be necessary.
Range hoods may also need to meet additional specifications if they are used in cars, ships, airplanes, or tropical locations. It is important to remember that extra standards might be stipulated by national health authorities and labor protection authorities.
