SKU141134457 Published by International Electrotechnical Commission IEC Publication Date2019-12-10 Pages CountPages52

The safety standards for electrically driven commercial rinse sinks used in commercial kitchens are the topic of the standard IEC 60335-2-62:2019. These devices are frequently seen in dining establishments, medical facilities, and other business buildings like bakeries and butcheries. The standard is applicable to devices with rated voltages up to 480 volts for other devices and 250 volts for single-phase devices. It also includes the electrical components of devices that utilize other sources of power.

The standard outlines precautions to take when using this equipment and tackles common risks. It does, however, accept that more standards can be required in some situations, such as for appliances used in automobiles or in tropical regions. In some nations, extra regulations may also be imposed by national water supply, labor, and health agencies.

Dishwashers, appliances used for industrial purposes, appliances intended for use in environments with corrosive or explosive atmospheres, and appliances designed for sterilization to clinical standards are excluded from the standard's scope.

The standard's fourth edition, which was released in 2019, has replaced its third edition from 2002. Technical updates include the addition of an informative annex on leakage currents for appliances used in tropical climates, alignment with IEC 60335-1, the use of specific test probes for confirming access to live parts and temperature measurements, requirements for the washing vessel, modifications to leakage current values, and requirements for specific electrical connections. It also introduces temperature values for accessible parts and water that are specific, alignment with IEC 60335, and requirements for the washing vessel.

It is crucial to remember that this standard's Part 2 should be used in conjunction with the most recent version of IEC 60335-1 and any applicable revisions.
