IEC 62885-8:2019 is a standard that focuses on the performance measurement of commercial dry vacuum cleaners. This standard supplements the standards stated in IEC 60335-2-69 for commercial vacuum cleaners. Its goal is to describe the main performance parameters of these vacuum cleaners and provide techniques for measuring them.
The standard recognizes that environmental conditions, time, test materials, and operator competency can all have an impact on vacuum cleaner performance. As a result, it proposes that the test techniques be used for comparison testing of several appliances in the same laboratory by the same operator for more reliable findings.
This standard also enables technique adjustments to be applied to different types or technologies of surface-cleaning products not currently covered by its scope. It refers to IEC 60335-1 and IEC 60335-2-69 for safety criteria.
It should be noted that IEC 62885-8:2019 is the first edition, succeeding the previously published IEC PAS 62611 from 2009.
