A standard called IEC 62885-2:2016 offers criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of dry vacuum cleaners used in homes or other comparable settings. The standard covers the techniques for measuring these features as well as the key performance traits that are important to users. It should be noted that cordless vacuums are not covered by this standard.
The standard has undergone a technical review and has been significantly updated from its previous version. New terms and definitions have been added, subclauses have been improved for easier understanding, the "Carpets for Testing" subclause has been reviewed and renamed, various test procedures have been improved, a new subclause on total emissions while vacuuming has been added, and new subclauses on operational motor life-time test and rated input power have also been added.
In addition to these modifications, a number of annex additions have been made to offer more details and recommendations.
