Surface cleaning appliances - Part 3: Wet carpet cleaning appliances - Methods for measuring the performance
Also Known As:
A standard called IEC 62885-3:2014 is focused specifically on wet carpet cleaning equipment used in homes. It provides standards for evaluating the performance of various equipment and excludes steam cleaning vacuums. The standard describes the techniques for assessing these attributes and seeks to define the fundamental performance characteristics that are significant to users. It is intended to supplement the dry vacuum cleaner methods described in IEC 60312-1.
The standard admits that a number of variables, including test materials, operator skill, and ambient circumstances, may have an impact on how reliable test findings are. As a result, it advises performing comparison testing on numerous appliances at once, in the same lab, and by the same operator, in order to get more trustworthy results. These appliances must adhere to IEC 60335-1 and IEC 60335-2-2's safety criteria.
Wet hard floor tests are not addressed in this standard, although it is important to note that they are being considered for a separate publication in the future.
