Automatic Floor Treatment Machines for Commercial Use - Particular Requirements
Also Known As:
The safety criteria for powered automatic floor treatment devices used in business settings are the topic of the standard IEC 63327:2021. These devices are made for a variety of floor treatment tasks, including floor sweeping, floor scrubbing, wet or dry pick-up, floor polishing, and floor shampooing. In addition to the general safety criteria for commercial floor treatment devices listed in IEC 60335-2-72, the standard specifies additional standards.
The standard is applicable to equipment that has an automatic or manual mode of operation. However, for machines without a manual mode, there are modified criteria listed in Annex FF. The standard aims to guarantee user safety and avoid potentially harmful contact with people in the immediate vicinity when using these automatic floor treatment devices. This is particularly significant in light of the possibility that these machines operate close to densely populated areas like malls and schools.
Rechargeable batteries that are recharged by built-in or off-board battery chargers are among the several power systems covered by the standard. Additionally, it states that different power methods are being considered. The standard does not, however, specify requirements for vacuum cleaners, wet scrubbing machines, household floor treatment machines, battery chargers, road sweepers, machines designed for use on slopes greater than 20%, machines with power take-off (PTO), machines for corrosive or explosive environments, vehicles, ships, or aircraft, vacuum cleaners for combustible dust, or medical appliances.
