Automatic Electrical Controls - Part 2-9: Particular Requirements for Temperature Sensing Controls

SKU914333296 Published by International Electrotechnical Commission IEC Publication Date2018-01-26 Pages CountPages154

The automatic electrical temperature sensing controls used in many types of equipment, such as heating, air conditioning, and other related applications, are covered by the standard IEC 60730-2-9:2015+A1:2018. It covers controls that use a single source, a combination of sources, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, electricity, gas, or oil. This standard can be used for controls intended for public use in a variety of settings, including shops, offices, hospitals, farms, commercial, and industrial applications. It is also applicable to controls that are a part of a building automation control system as described by ISO 16484.

However, unless specifically stated in the applicable equipment standard, this standard does not apply to controls only intended for industrial process applications. The standard covers the equipment's inherent safety, operating values, operating times, and operating procedures. It also covers the testing requirements for equipment that uses automatic electrical temperature sensing controls alone or in conjunction with other equipment. Additionally, this standard takes the functional safety of simple temperature sensing controllers and systems into account.

It should be noted that the 2008 edition of the standard, together with its Amendment 1:2011, have been replaced by this fourth edition. It is a technical revision that follows the fifth version of IEC 60730-1's text. Modifications to the heating-freezing tests, a re-alignment of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements with other part 2 standards, and the inclusion of requirements for class B and C control functions of temperature sensing controls in Clause H.27 are some of the significant technical changes in this edition. Therefore, there is no need to order Amendment 1 separately because it is included in this consolidated version of the standard, which also includes the fourth edition (2015).

To fully comprehend and apply this standard, it must be read in conjunction with IEC 60730-1:2013.
