Standard EN SampleHousehold and Similar Electrical Appliances - Safety - Part 2-27: Particular Requirements for Appliances for Skin Exposure to Optical Radiation
Also Known As:
The safety standards for electrical appliances that use emitters to expose the skin to ultraviolet or infrared radiation are the main emphasis of the IEC 60335-2-27:2009+A1:2012+A2:2015 standard. It covers appliances with a rating voltage below 480 V for other appliances and below 250 V for single-phase appliances that are designed for home usage. The standard also covers equipment made for tanning booths, beauty salons, and other similar settings.
Clarifying the radiation measurement technique gives further instructions on how to precisely measure and evaluate the radiation emitted by these appliances, which is one of the major modifications in this edition of the standard. The standard also contains instructions for establishing an exposure duration schedule, which aids in ensuring safe use of these machines.
The additional standards and tests defined in this standard may take some time for manufacturers and testing organizations to get used to. As a result, the paper suggests a countrywide implementation transitional time of 12 to 36 months.
The fifth edition from 2009, its amendment 1 from 2012, and its amendment 2 from 2015 are all included in this condensed version of the standard. Therefore, it is not necessary to place separate orders for additional modifications. IEC 60335-1:2010, which outlines general safety specifications for home appliances and other similar electrical devices, should also be consulted.
